PL-Grid consortium

The PL-Grid Consortium (Polish National Grid Initiative) was established in January 2007 to build a grid computing infrastructure for the scientific community. The developed infrastructure supports scientific research by integrating experimental data and results of advanced computer simulations conducted by teams working in different locations.
It allows Polish scientists to conduct scientific research based on simulations and large-scale computations with the use of clusters, and provides convenient access to distributed computer resources. Except WCSS, the PL-GRID consortium includes the following institutions:
  • Academic Computer Center CYFRONET AGH in Kraków (ACK CYFRONET AGH)
  • Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computational Modeling in Warsaw (ICM UW)
  • Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center
  • CI TASK – Center of Informatics Tricity Academic Supercomputer and networK (CI TASK)
The PL-Grid Consortium is managed by the Consortium Council, which performs decision-making and supervisory functions.

WCSS activities as part of the PL-Grid consortium:
  • development of PL-Grid infrastructure as part of the following projects: PL-Grid, PL-Grid Plus, PL-Grid NG
  • maintenance, development and operation of PL-Grid infrastructure, working witth the resources provided by WCSS.
